Y'all might recall that I offered a research challenge to the Michael White descendents to start lookin' around in their attics for the missing portrait of Maria del Rosario Gullien de White, but I think I mighta beat 'em to it. Funny ol' painting there in the wall ain't it? The caption on the newsclipping says it was Florinda, Miguel's granddaughter seated there on the right as a youngster, but was it? or was it Rosario? Anyway, a big shout out to Denise Dobbs, the archivist at the San Marino Public Library for her help, and I'm rescinding the old challenge and issuing a new one: Who's the lady in the portrait and who has it now?
