New Website

Alright everybody, some of you have been around long enough to know that I've got an alter ego, a character if you will, called Jeryd Pojawa. I thought him up years ago, and he's had a pretty decent career out there in Hollywood.

Anyway, it was getting to be time to blow the dust off the old scrapbooks and reassess the beauty / functionality / money / time continuum of this summer and well, that kind of thing can lead to more of the same.

So to that end, Jane spent some time scanning and coding and uploading and widgeting and all that kind of thing and put together this website. Probably won't ever be "done"  - but it's got a pretty comprehensive scope of the careers of Jeryd Pojawa and Raven Jake Dawes.

Check it out - you're sure to find something you like whether it's Han Solo's keychain or my portrayal of a creepy serial killer/photographer in a cop show. Maybe you like freak cards (I sure do) or movies about stuff exploding. Or trade show booths. Like I said, something for everybody. There's even a song on there, if you can find it.

So big thanks to my lovely wife for gettin' on it, and hopefully you'll find something up there that puts a smile on your face.

"Significant Objects... and how they got that way" is an awesome literary exercise in adding value to absolute crap with a compelling story.  In other words:

"A talented, creative writer invents a story about an object. Invested with new significance by this fiction, the object should — according to our hypothesis — acquire not merely subjective but objective value. How to test our theory? Via eBay!"

Now this touches my heart, 'cause a couple of days ago I bid farewell to my old truck. I'll post about that in a little bit. It ain't a dead truck in your driveway you miss, it's all the investment and memories that went into it. But I tell you folks, I wish I'd spent a little time writing up a sad tale about it before I called Pick Your Part.

Protest SOPA & PIPA

Folks, I was going black for today, but Typepad hasn't gotten with the protest. Just know that I'm against anyone or anything trying to take away our first amendment rights.

Many websites are blacked out today to protest proposed U.S. legislation that threatens internet freedom: the Stop Internet Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA). Radio Spot for Morongo Basin Historical Society

Folks, many times people know their address, but they don't really know where they live. Now people have been thinkin' with fully evolved human brains for the last 40,000 years or so, maybe more, so while the technology changes around, the same stuff that's common to all people across culture - love, crime, kids, drugs, zombie attacks, you know, whatever; that stuff stays the same. 

So when Barbara Harris from the Morongo Basin Historical Society blurted out "People just don't know where they live!" I took that to heart. 'Cause history didn't just happen to some poor dude long ago and far away - these historical personages could've been your creepy neighbor or high school sweetheart or jerk of a boss - the archetypes remain constant. The MBHS is starting a membership drive under the banner "Do You Know Where You Live?" and if you live in the Morongo Basin, spend two sawbucks and find out - and if you don't, find out anyway. Do a little research and figure out where you live. In the meantime, I've been recording some radio public service announcements to help the process along, and here's the first 60-second spot:

Raven Jake has Joined the VOX Diaspora

Folks, I got some depressing news yesterday, and that was that Vox has gone belly-up and they told me to skedaddle quick. So Jane got on it with the "migration" as they like to call it, but I ain't pleased with the new design and a plague of other inconveniences. Alright, this ain't as bad as the Station Fire, but I have yet to see an upside. Bear with us for a bit til we git this figured out.
